CHARACTER(S): Not applicable.
IC
NAME: Levy.AGE: Unknown, mid-thirties.
SUITABILITY:
If it means anything, Levy was originally human. In his world, Sinners are made by those that are exposed to high-levels of Mania - a mutation which is unique to humans that causes abnormal mental and physical changes. It allows them the means to use abilities that pretty much are straight-up magic. They are also categorized by their tendency and how they awakened to their power.
For Levy, he has been categorized as a Greed Endura. Endura are categorized for being tenacious to a fault. They have a tremendous amount of stamina and great sense of responsibility; ready to tackle any danger or resistance that comes their way when trying to reach a goal or keep a promise.
This man loves to make terrible deals and contracts with people. He enjoys finding a way to beat the system, and gain as much money and prestige as possible at the annoyance and suffering of others. Heād have no issue with playing along with the hope that he can one day have his captors be the ones asking him for assistance or a coin.
CANON: Path to Nowhere.
CANON POINT: Post Chapter 9.
ABILITIES:
Hand-to-hand combat. Self-explanatory. Rather than use any fancy firearm or weapon, Levy relies on his fists.
Sinner. As mentioned, Levy is tougher than most humans. His punches are able to break bones for the most part, but heād rarely use his full strength against an average person. Unless his hand is forced. That said, his own body is hard to cause damage due to just being tougher than most. To put it in other terms, Endura Sinners are like tanks. Theyāre able to take a lot of damage and are usually on the frontlines to hold back the flow of people with their own bodies.
And also for his Mania-powered ability, whenever he takes damage from an enemy, he harms them in turn. To put it in other terms, he hits them with a counterspell so that theyāre hurt each time that they try to hurt him. It isnāt one-to-one damage of what theyāre doing to him. Like, if they shoot him with a rifle, theyāll feel like they got punched hard.
His Ultimate - which means he has to pull on a lot of Mania to use - is that he āwrites-upā a fraud contract. It causes him to increase his own magical resistance ā essentially, it makes him a lot tougher than he already is. The stipulations of what he writes in it is that anyone that views themselves as an enemy around him starts to take damage. Essentially bringing physical harm to them so long as they view themselves as his enemy.
Also, for all the people that are affected with his counterspell or Ultimate, if he grabs onto them, he can start to drain the life right out of their bodies. Itās a means to heal his body from what damage that heās suffered. Of course, it isnāt the same amount as say what an actual healer can do - itās just supposed to be a means to keep himself going through the fight.
VICES:
Greed. It would be silly not to list this as a vice given that he was named Sinner of Greed. He doesnāt really care about money, however. His greed comes in wanting everything that other people have; he wants to offer them their wildest dreams while giving up something that they truly honestly love for it. He wants to find the leverage in everyoneās heart and see what it would take for them to sell it to him. Itās because he feels so empty inside that he wants to hold onto what others āloveā to see if it will fill him up.
Manipulative. He knows how to get under peopleās skin and knows how to manipulate most so that theyāll be willing to listen to him. Levy is, after all, a businessman. He has a silver tongue on him and enjoys finding ways to force others to play on his level. Itād probably be best to say that heās opportunistic; heās the kind of person that would prey on someoneās weaknesses in order to get what he wants. However, heās careful to never press his luck with those that seem like theyāre stronger or at the same level of strength as he is. Like fellow Sinners.
VIRTUES:
Friendly. It canāt be said that Levy isnāt friendly. He is chatty with those that he even shouldnāt be chatty with - like his prison guards or other staff members of MBCC. He likes to talk with people and get close to them. That relates to his two vices, of course. The closer a person is to him, the easier it is to manipulate. Itās a vicious cycle with him, but he sometimes just likes to chat just to chat. Heās someone who seems both very open and closed at the same time. The perfect slimy businessman.
āHeart of Goldā. Well - kind of. Truth be told, he isnāt as terrible a person as he wants to be. While his Mania and Sinner state has made him desire the ruin of others, he doesnāt go all out for it. There is still a sliver of conscience that doesnāt want to become a monster. Like with his nephew, Chad; he didnāt want the young man to end up hurt or destroyed by him.
He wanted Chad to be able to stand on his own two feet away from people that could manipulate him. And that includes himself. A Sinner has a level of insanity to them that they sometimes simply canāt control and Levyās very aware of that fact. However, he is convinced by the Chief to not run away and actually properly protect his nephew instead of trying to shove him away for āhis own safety.ā
SURVEY
ā¶ I REGULARLY MAKE NEW FRIENDS.
ā· 1. Of course, I do. Well, I try my best to make new friends, anyway. Whether they feel that way towards me is debatable. But I do love making friends. I think that itās best if everyone is able to have fun with one another. Otherwise, life is just too dull and boring!
ā¶ SEEING OTHER PEOPLE CRY MAKES ME WANT TO CRY TOO.
ā· 5. [ Hahahahaha! ] What?! I suppose I know a few people that are sensitive enough to start bawling the minute a person sheds a tear, but Iām afraid that Iām not one of them. If I was, I wouldnāt be quite the successful businessman that I am now. Sometimes, the machine known as capitalism has to bring ruin to people⦠if I got choked up every time they cried, I wouldnāt be able to do my job. And then what would happen to my wonderful and reliable employees?
ā¶ I OFTEN MAKE A BACKUP PLAN FOR A BACKUP PLAN.
ā· 3. Hmm⦠I tend to be a mix! I like to play whatever hand that Iāve been dealt and see where it leads me, but also like to be tenacious in getting what I want. Rather than having multiple backup plans, I think itās just keep pushing forward until a goal is met.
ā¶ I USUALLY STAY CALM, EVEN WHEN UNDER A LOT OF PRESSURE.
ā· 1. Didnāt I say that I was a businessman? Itād be bad for me if I balked under every little thing. [ A beat. ] But Iām also a Sinner⦠and one thatās occasionally poorly treated by MBCC. I have to go out in the frontlines and deal with violent individuals. The kind that use guns and clubs and knives⦠if I break down and run, well⦠it isnāt like I could.
[ So Levy would say. Heād paint it as a situation where the Chief and their Shackles keep him from retreating, but he also wouldnāt retreat unless forced. That comes from a desire to see the end of whatever plans his commander and master are scheming; his desire also to look after the Sinners that rely on him to stand in the way of danger. But admitting all of that is too mushy and sentimental for him to do. Especially since he canāt spin it in a way thatād gain him the response that heās looking for in others. ]
ā¶ I AM VERY SENTIMENTAL.
ā· 1. Oh, very. I tend to dwell a lot in the past. I think a lot of how people have treated me and how I can pay them back for all that theyāve done. Itās something that keeps me up at night. People would say that itās scheming, but thatās just mean. Iām not so cold-hearted as to take every slight and pay it back tenfold. Who said that?
[ Yeah⦠Levy can be an incredibly petty person under the wrong circumstances. ]
ā¶ EVEN A SMALL MISTAKE CAN CAUSE ME TO DOUBT MY OVERALL ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE.
ā· 5. A person canāt let themselves be troubled so much that it keeps them from moving forward. Thatās all I have to say about that one!
Actually, no, I have more. There are a few Sinners that canāt move on from an error theyāve made. They start questioning everything that theyāve done up to that slip-up, and I wonder why. The more that they sit and wring their hands over what happened⦠the more likely they are to repeat what theyāve done or their inaction will cause some other misfortune to fall down on all our heads.
People just need to brush themselves off and try again ⦠and again⦠and again⦠victory is not in the details but in who breaks down first.
ā¶ I AM MORE INCLINED TO FOLLOW MY HEAD THAN MY HEART.
ā· 4. Bzzz, Bzzz. I go with my heart each and every time. How can a person know that Iām sincere and honest if I just go with my head all the time? Relationships and friendship are forged when one puts their vulnerable self out there and strike forward with hope in their heart and spring in their ā [ Hahahahaa! ] Sorry, sorry. I almost had it. Ask me it, again. Iāll be more honest this time. I promise.
[ Heās a mixture of both. He thinks of cost-reward, but he also thinks of what will be the most fun. It depends on which one will win out over the other. ]
ā¶ I AM PRONE TO WORRYING THAT THINGS WILL TAKE A TURN FOR THE WORSE.
ā· 5. I have better things to do than worry about how bad things can get. Things can always get worse than what they are. The good Chief that I am tied to knows that better than anyone! Letās just be realistic about things - realistic. If the situation gets worse, damage control will just have to be done. Whatās that old saying - or is it a new saying? Worrying about a bad situation happening is suffering twice. Who wants to put themselves through Hell multiple times?
ā¶ I ENJOY WATCHING PEOPLE ARGUE.
ā· 1. Sometimes. All right - all the time. Itās fun to watch people get all bent out of shape about little things, big things. Their faces all contort as they stand on a shaky podium while they proclaim how they are right. Sure, occasionally, a person is objectively wrong but isnāt there something fun in watching a person like that slowly realize how wrong they are? Or double-down making themselves look like more of a fool?
ā¶ I TEND TO AVOID DRAWING ATTENTION TO MYSELF.
ā· 5. Absolutely not. There are some Sinners that would rather blend into the background, but what good is that? I like to be out and as loud as I can. In clothes and in every other way. Flies may gather - as flies always gather. But I think that there still can be a lot of fun had with them. Especially in a place like this!
ā¶ I OFTEN DO THINGS AT THE LAST POSSIBLE MOMENT.
ā· 4. Ehh - sometimes. There are just some tasks that are just better suited for other people and so I donāt want to take their limelight or thunder by doing them. I feel bad when Iām asked to do them, because Iād hate to take work and an opportunity for others to grow away from them. So, if I do it at the very end, itāll ensure that Iām not asked again - and those that are better suited for it can do it for me.
[ Yeah, if the task is too beneath him, Levy will outsource or put it off and do it in the worst way possible so that he wonāt be bothered, again. ]
ā¶ I FIND IT EASY TO EMPATHIZE WITH A PERSON WHOSE EXPERIENCES ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM MINE.
ā· 3. Oh, of course. How can I make friends with others if I donāt try to empathize with the situation that theyāre feeling? How can I sell to my wonderful customers if I donāt try to understand them? I always do my best to be able to really get where it is that theyāre coming from so I can best assist them. Hm? Assist friends? Well, I mean, I like to assist my friends in having the best time that they possibly could have. Thatās what every good friend should do.
ā¶ I BECOME BORED OR LOSE INTEREST WHEN THE DISCUSSION GETS HIGHLY THEORETICAL.
ā· 2. I have some friends that enjoy that kind of talk ⦠so for them, Iām willing to hold my interest rather than let my mind wander. But I find those topics to be quite dull, honestly. Like how people view greed. They tend to think of it as a bad thing, but I donāt. Obviously! Greed is the natural state of people. Itās how we really are. Everyone's a little bit greedy. We all want a little more⦠and there are things that weāre willing to sell our souls for in order to get. So how is it bad? See? Theoretical chit-chats on morality are so, so silly.
ā¶ I RARELY FEEL INSECURE.
ā· 1. Insecurity just aināt me. I donāt wear it well. But if a dear friend of mine wants to see me be an insecure mess, well, Iām more than happy to play along. I do have a few friends that have those sort of inclinations. But itās fine. Itās all in good fun and theyāll be willing to buy a few choice items from me later due to all the fun that we had. Sorry - what was the question? Oh, insecurity. Yeah, I donāt really feel that.
ā¶ I AM STILL BOTHERED BY MISTAKES I MADE A LONG TIME AGO.
ā· 5. Didnāt we talk a bit about this earlier? Well, I am not bothered at all by mistakes of the past, present, or even those I might make in the future. All mistakes can help a person grow to the truest version of themselves.
I made the mistake of trusting in my family⦠I thought that theyād be upright people who would do good for me when my parents passed⦠but they turned out to be scum of the earth. A lesson learned! And I didnāt let it drag me down. I didnāt sit and whine about my losses but clawed my way back.
See? All mistakes are just lessons to help a person grow.
